Wrap Film Architectures
- Calendered PVC is stiff, so it is pumped full of liquid plasticizers to stay flexible.
- UV exposure bakes those plasticizers out, leaving the film brittle with edge lift and cracking.
- Cast PVC is poured as a liquid, so it holds zero built-in tension and conforms to deep curves.
- Both PVC types max out around 4 mils — cosmetic only, with almost no impact defense.
- 100% aliphatic TPU is 7.5–10 mils and carries flexibility and toughness inside its own molecule.
- TPU stops gravel and chips from reaching your clear coat; PVC does not.
- Post-heat at 190–212°F breaks PVC's shrink memory so it will not pull out of recesses.
